Singer/songwriter and friend, Regan Brown posted to Facebook about a "new platform" at
www.austintexas.org
in which bands can capitalize on the web site's traffic by creating custom pages with profiles, etc. (read more below).
Austin musicians (from the Chronicle): The city's official calling card as the "live music capital of the world" lures roughly 1.4 million visitors annually to
www.austintexas.org
, the tourist-friendly website hosted by the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau. Last week, the site added a music platform that allows local bands to capitalize on that traffic.
(Regan, myself and others weren't able to find access/entry to the musicians' platform. I took the liberty of contacting the musical director at
www.austintexas.org
and recieved the reply (below) with directions regarding musicians' access and "how to" create custom pages. Read on...)
In partnership with DoubleStereo, a local offshoot of music and merchandise fulfillment company cdFuse.com, artists ranging from Asleep at the Wheel and White Ghost Shivers to Maneja Beto and Tee Double have created custom pages with embedded music/video players, Twitter feeds, and merchandise available for purchase. "It's going to be a really cool way for people to get a taste of what Austin has to offer," enthuses DoubleStereo co-founder Sal Silva. Enrollment is free and ongoing.
Bands/Artists will actually signup on DoubleStereo (
http://www.doublestereo.com/artists/join
). The way it works is every band that lists Austin as their "Home City" will automatically be filtered into our Austin Music microsite. Feel free to send us anymore feedback. Our site is still pretty new so if there is any other way to make it more user friendly we definitely want to know! We are currently working to add a link for musicians to sign-up on our main page as well.
Best,
Amanda Garcia
